The major idea that I got out of reading from "Feminism is for Everybody" is the fact that men and women need to work together to make a change to further women's equality in our society. I am taking a Women's Studies class this semester and I would like to commend the men who are in our class. They are taking the time to notice the inequality and sexism in our society. I have had many discussions in my education classes about how those who benefit from "the system" (whichever issue or institution that is being discussed) for the most part will not stand against it or questions it. It is nice to see that there are people who are truly out there to make sure equality can exist.

Feminism is truly for Everybody!
I have never considered myself a "feminist." However after reading "Feminism is for Everybody" I have come to a new understanding of what feminism really stands for. Who honestly can say that they do not want equality. I have only heard of the negatives that "feminists" stand for, but if it weren't for feminists throughout history I could not be who I am today. For example, I was "athlete of the year" in high school, and I played softball, field hockey, and basketball. If it weren't for these brave women, not only would I not be able to play sports at a competitive level, but I wouldn't even be able to walk around in the shorts that were part of the uniform. I also have much pride in saying that I am a math major. Without these women fighting for educational rights for women I would not be in college and I would not be able to go on to become a successful math teacher. Math itself is a "man's world," even today, I am looked at like an alien in the math world because I am a woman in mathematics.
